子供達が通う小学校の運動会がありました。

地元が同じ同級生が数名いまして、こういう場で会って話すのが楽しいですよね。

アラフォーはアラフォーでも、４０手前になると男としての人生で何を幸せと思い生きているか悩んだりもします。

嫁が怖いという人がいたり、お金のことで割と苦労しているのか友人の話で自分が格差を感じてしまったりする人もいます。

仕事の話をしていると、それいいね！と話に花が咲くような、香ばしい香りのする会話も生まれます。

人と話すというのは本当に楽しいですし、新しい発見であったりワクワクすることが生まれるのだと改めて感じますね。

ある友人と話をしていて、聞いた時点ですでに事業になりそうな話、そこまでわかっているなら全然いけるよね、と感じたので

「ぜひやってみたらいいよ！」

と勧めてもその最後の一歩が踏み出せない。

勤め先から、副業は認められていないとか諦めざるを得ない（そうせざるを得なさそうな）わけです。

政府が副業解禁と言っているのに、地方の会社というのはなんとも理不尽ですよね。

本業をやりながら、アルバイトをしたりして少しでも手取りを増やす努力はしているようですが、それではバイト脳であり短絡的だと思います。

すごくいい線を言っているので、あと一歩なんですよね。

自分も同じように悩み、そこで一歩を踏み出して今があるので自分が歩んだことであればアドバイスすることが出来ます。

だから、アラフォーである自分たちが力を合わせて一歩先の良い未来へ進んでいけるような気がしています。

まだまだ若いし、石橋を叩いて渡るようにいけば大きな失敗をせずに済みます。

友人同士で事業をしている友人たちを見て、すごく生き生きとしていて楽しそうだったので、自分たちもそういうことができれば。。。人生における豊かさに気付けるのかもしれません。

一度きりの人生を有意義なものにするために、少しでも彩りをつけ、歩んできてよかったと思える人生にするためにはどうしたらいいのか。

アラフォーは悩み多き年頃なのです。

There was a sports day at the elementary school my children attend.

There are a few classmates from my hometown, and it’s enjoyable to meet and talk with them at such events.

Being in my late 30s, almost 40, I sometimes wonder what it means to find happiness in life as a man.

Some people find their wives intimidating, while others seem to struggle financially and feel the disparity when listening to friends talk about their situations.

When we talk about work, sometimes the conversation gets really exciting with interesting and appealing topics.

Talking with people is truly fun, and it brings about new discoveries and exciting experiences.

While chatting with a friend, I realized that his idea could easily become a business. I encouraged him to give it a try, but he couldn't take that final step.

He mentioned that his employer doesn’t allow side jobs, so he feels forced to give up.

Even though the government is promoting side jobs, local companies can be quite unreasonable.

He’s trying to increase his income by working part-time in addition to his main job, but that’s short-sighted.

He’s on the right track and just needs to take one more step.

I’ve faced similar dilemmas and took that step forward, leading to where I am today. I can offer advice based on my own experiences.

I believe that if we, in our late 30s, combine our efforts, we can move towards a better future.

We’re still young, and if we proceed cautiously, we can avoid major failures. Seeing friends who run businesses together, they look vibrant and happy. If we could do something similar, we might find greater fulfillment in life.

To make our once-in-a-lifetime journey meaningful, we should add some color and ensure that we can look back and feel good about our lives.

Being in our late 30s comes with many worries.

物事に優先順位をつけてみる Prioritizing Things

ついついやってしまうことありませんか？

スマホでゲーム？ネット？SNS？

気付いたら何時間もそれをやってしまっている。数分で止まるようでなかなか止まりませんよね。

１日の限られた可処分時間の数時間をそのような徒労に費やしてしまっていると大変もったいないですよね。

かといって、ゲームが好きなのであればゲームはしたいですし、SNSでの友達がいればそちらのコミュニケーションも大変楽しいものです。

やらなければならないことや、やりたいと思っていることを優先にしてそれが終わったら楽しいことをする時間を取る、というようにすると物事が進んでいいのではないでしょうか？

平日も読書をしたいと思っていてもなかなか時間が取れないかもしれません。

たとえ１５分でもいいから、寝る前に時間を取るようにする。

それをやってから眠るようにすれば、優先したいものである「読書をする時間」というのは確保することが出来ます。

眠るよりも、読書をすることを優先することでやった方がいいなぁ、と思っていることをやることが出来ます。

家族との時間が取れなければ、そちらを優先してみるように行動してみてはどうでしょうか。

残業が厳しければ、しないで済むようにするにはどうすればいいかを考えたことはありますか？

最初から無理だと思ってはいけません。

優先したいことをやるためにはどうしたらできるかを考えることです。

やりたいけどやれないことをなくしていけば、自分に落ち込まずに済みさらには自信もついてくるはずです。

Do you ever find yourself doing something habitually? Playing games on your smartphone? Surfing the web? Scrolling through social media?

Before you know it, you've spent hours on these activities. It’s hard to stop even when you intend to only spend a few minutes.

Spending a few hours of your limited daily disposable time on such futile activities is a real waste.

That said, if you enjoy games, you’ll want to play them. If you have friends on social media, those interactions can be very enjoyable.

How about prioritizing the things you need or want to do first, and then rewarding yourself with fun activities after they’re done?

Even on weekdays, you might want to read but struggle to find the time. Even if it's just 15 minutes, setting aside time before bed can help. If you make it a habit to read before sleeping, you'll secure time for this priority.

By prioritizing reading over sleep, you ensure that you accomplish what you deem important.

If you lack time with your family, try prioritizing them. If overtime is tough, have you thought about how to avoid it? Don’t assume it’s impossible from the start. Think about what you can do to make time for what’s important to you.

By eliminating things you want to do but can’t, you’ll avoid feeling down and, eventually, gain more confidence.

「手に職だな」

という言葉を聞いたことありませんか？

小さなころから手に職だと言われて育ってきましたが、子供には意味がよくわかりませんよねw

最近になって、この言葉の意味は何かを生み出せないといけないということであったり、士業になれということではない気がしてきました。

自分が得意なことに気付き、自分が生み出せるものに気付き、自分が何かで誰かの役に立てることに気付き、それを使っていくことだと思っています。

自分の長所や得意なことに気付くことって、結構難しいんですよね。

自分が当たり前だと思っていることは、誰かにとって優れた技術である、ということに人は大変気付かないものです。

誰かに

「あなたのそれってすごいんだよ！」と言ってもらえないとわからないし、言われたとしても当の本人は謙遜して

「そんなことないです。普通ですよ。」

と返答し、何もなかったかのように振る舞ってしまいます。

自分が好きなことや熱中できることを見つけて、研究してとびきり好きになって、それを世の中に打ち出していくことがこれからの世の中で誰かの好きになっていくんじゃないかと思っています。

仕事でも、趣味でも、とびきりのオタクの存在が世の中を面白おかしく彩っていく。

それが手に職なのだと思います。

看板がなくても、自分の体と知能でどこででも生きていける。

そんな存在になれたら、誰かの言いなりになって働かなくてもいいかもしれません。

人が自由を手に入れて、一度きりの人生を、その人が生きたいように生きれたらとても幸せだと思います。

最初は苦しい時もあるけれど、その山を越えた先に見える景色はとても雄大だと思います。

自分の中の「手に職」に目を向けてみてください。

もしかしたら、自分の当たり前が誰かのスペシャルになれるかもしれません。

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Having a skill makes sense"?

I've been told since I was young that having a skill is important, but as a child, I didn't really understand what it meant.

Recently, I've realized that this phrase doesn't necessarily mean that you need to be able to create something or become a professional. 

It means recognizing what you're good at, understanding what you can create, realizing how you can be useful to someone, and utilizing that.

It's quite difficult to recognize your strengths and what you're good at. People often don't realize that something they consider ordinary might be an extraordinary skill to someone else.

Unless someone tells you, "What you're doing is amazing!" you might never know. And even if they do, you might respond modestly, "It's nothing special. It's just normal."

Finding something you love or are passionate about, researching it, becoming deeply invested in it, and presenting it to the world—these are the things that can make someone appreciate you. Whether it's in work or as a hobby, people with unique obsessions and passions make the world a more colorful and interesting place.

That's what having a skill means.

Even without a signboard, if you have the skills and knowledge to survive anywhere, you might not need to work under someone else's terms.

If people can gain freedom and live their one and only life the way they want, that would be true happiness. There will be tough times at the beginning, but the view after overcoming those challenges will be magnificent.

Focus on your "having a skill." Perhaps what you consider ordinary might be something extraordinary for someone else.

「あの人にしか出来ない」

なんてものはないと思います。

製品であれ、サービスであれ、特別なものはない。

特別なものがあるとすれば、その人自身だと思います。

元祖という言葉や第１人者などそういう言葉に惹かれ魅力を感じることもあります。

あの人にお願いしたい、と思える人なら自分が作ったりする時間が大変に惜しいのでお願いしてしまいますが、自分がお願いしたくない人や会社に対して、お願いするかどうかという問題がありますよね。

普段ならば、気にしないのですが自分の生き方やポリシーと合わない人に、わざわざ頭を下げてお願いするのもなんだかなぁ、と最近考えてしまいます。

自分と他人なので、合わないことがあるのはじゅうじゅう承知していますが、ちょっと許せないなぁ、と思うとさすがにその人に仕事をお願いしたくはないよねぇ。。。と考えてしまいます。

１から仕組みや製品を作るとなると、大変です。

ですが、眼の前のお客様がお困りなのにそれを自分が手助け出来ないことは大変悔しいと思います。

だから、自分もやってみよう。

ネットで調べてもあそこしかない、と言われているならそれを作ろう。

お客様が実際にお困りなのであればそれを解決出来るようにしよう。

失敗はするかもしれないが、難しいことなんてない。

失敗も成功するまでやり続ければいい。

化学の原理で行えば、みな同様の結果にたどり着くはず。

それが化学なんですよね。

さぁ、面白いこと始めるよ。

"I am the only one who can do this."

I don't believe that there's anything that only one person can do. Whether it's a product or a service, there's nothing inherently special. If there is something special, it's the individual themselves.

Words like "originator" or "pioneer" can be appealing and attractive.

If there's someone you specifically want to ask for help, it's often because you value your time and prefer not to spend it doing the task yourself. However, there are times when you might hesitate to ask someone or a company that you don't trust or like.

Normally, I wouldn't care, but recently I've been thinking about how I don't want to bow my head and ask for help from someone whose values or ways of working don't align with mine.

I understand that not everyone will be a good match, but when someone is particularly hard to tolerate, I definitely don't want to ask them for help.

Creating a system or product from scratch is challenging. But if a customer is in need and I can't help, it feels incredibly frustrating. So, why not try it myself?

If the internet says there's only one place that does it, then let's create it ourselves. If a customer is genuinely in need, let's find a solution for them.

There might be failures, but nothing is truly difficult. If you keep trying, you'll eventually succeed.

Following scientific principles, everyone should reach the same result. That's the nature of science.

So, let's start something interesting. Is there anything you're challenging yourself with? Let's all take on new challenges together.

２０２４年４月から新しく放送が開始された新プロジェクトX。

先週は世界初の量産EVの開発秘話でした。

日本企業の日産が作ったLEAF。

バッテリーの開発が難航したようでした。

世界で初めて商品化したのは日本の企業です（ソニー）

日本が生産の９割を占めていたのは昔のことで今では韓国や中国での生産量が増えてきています。

発火しやすいことと均一に電解液がいかないことで短寿命となっていたのを、NECにいた人のアイデアでうどん棒と呼ばれる作業工程を取り入れることでバッテリーの性能を向上、その作業を製造工程に取り入れる機械を生産ラインチームが組み込みバッテリーの量産化に成功し、晴れてLEAFは日の目をみることとなったのです。

誰もやったことのないことへの挑戦。

大きな会社なので、研究費を費やすだけの期間は冷ややかな目で見られることもあったと思います。

それでも諦めずに情熱を燃やし続けること数年。

本当に作り上げてしまいました。

その中で、電池の開発メンバーの人がおっしゃったコミュニケーションという言葉が印象に残りました。

部署を超えて、本音で話す。

リーダー同士で部下を返したあとに集まる会議では隠し事は一切無しなんだそうです。

素晴らしいと思います。

僕は仕事をしていてそのことで気付いたことがあります。

人は隠し事をするのです。

壊れていることを隠したり、気付いても言わないでおく、みたいな話を聞いたことがありま

す。

自分が当事者になりたくなかったり、面倒なことに巻き込まれたくないということなのでしょうか。

都合が悪いことを言わないでおく。

開発が遅れていたり思ったより進まないなど恥ずかしくて言えないなど、恥という部分にこだわってしまうこともあるでしょう。

壊れたものを壊れたまま使う。

言った人が直さないといけないから？

遅れるとわかれば怒られるから？

そんなに面倒なことなのでしょうかね？

怒られるかもしれない、と思っているのでしょうかね？

不具合があった時、伝えることで対策や解決策を考えることができます。

だから素直にお伝えした方が僕はいいと思っています。

隠しごとをしたまま、その場を立ち去るときっとずっと気になって仕方がありません。

素直なコミュニケーションが良好な人間関係を築けるのだと思います。

In April 2024, the new Project X series began broadcasting. Last week featured the development secrets of the world’s first mass-produced EV, the Nissan LEAF.

The development of its battery faced many difficulties. The first company to commercialize the battery was a Japanese company, Sony.

While Japan used to dominate 90% of the production, nowadays, production in South Korea and China has increased.

Issues such as flammability and uneven distribution of electrolyte leading to short battery life were resolved by an idea from a former NEC employee. By incorporating a process called "udon stick" into the manufacturing, the performance of the batteries was enhanced. The production line team successfully integrated this process into their production line, leading to the mass production of the LEAF’s battery.

The challenge of doing something never done before. As a large company, spending years on research often invites skeptical looks. But they didn't give up and kept their passion burning for several years until they succeeded.

One of the things that stood out to me was the word "communication" mentioned by a member of the battery development team.

They spoke candidly across departments. After meetings where leaders gathered their subordinates, they would have completely open discussions.

I think this is wonderful. Through my work, I’ve noticed that people often keep secrets.

I’ve heard stories of people hiding broken things or noticing issues but not speaking up. Perhaps they don't want to be held responsible or involved in troublesome matters. They avoid mentioning inconvenient truths.

Using something that’s broken. Is it because the person who mentions it has to fix it? Because they’ll get scolded if there's a delay?

Is it really that troublesome? Are they afraid of getting scolded?

When there are issues, communicating them allows for brainstorming solutions and strategies. I believe it’s better to be honest.

Leaving with secrets will likely make you constantly worried. Honest communication builds healthy human relationships.

５月末にある一般社団法人日本エルピーガスプラント協会（以下、JLPA）さんの総会に出席します。

５年ぶりとなる懇親会が開催されるそうです。

みなさまにお会いできることを楽しみにしております。

高圧ガスの検査業務ということについて、考えていた時期がありました。

ネガティブに考えすぎてしまって、

”僕たちの仕事はお客様にとってコストでしかない”

という答えに辿り着いた時期がありショックを受けた時期もあったり。。。

点検の義務がなければお客様は設備の維持にお金をかけずに済みます。

保安検査がないとするならば毎年の検査も受けなくてよくなります。

イコール僕らの仕事はお客様にとってコストでしかない。

でも、実際はそういうことにはなりませんでした。

お客様からそのような言葉をかけられたことはありません。

反対に感謝の言葉をいただけることもありました。

なぜだろう、と考えました。

実際は法定点検があって、検査を受けて保安検査をパスしなくてはなりません。

僕たちの仕事は設備の維持管理に役立っているということでもありました。

お役に立つことが出来ているから、お金をいただけている。

僕たちの仕事も日本の製造業に関わっていることを知りました。

お客様のそばに立って、技術と知識を使って設備の維持管理に努める。

前年と比べて異常となった部分を見つけたり、予防保全を推奨したりします。

自分たちだけが儲かるようなことを考えず、お客様へのベネフィットを考えて仕事に向き合っていく。

求められることと提供できる価値をすり合わせて自分たちが存在する理由とその価値を問い続けていくことが必要になってきます。

新しいものや技術を知り、それを取り入れてより安価に安定したサービスを提供していく努力をしていく必要もあります。

先輩たちが培い、育んできた知識や技術を未来へ繋いでいく必要もあります。

機械や設備など無機質なものと向き合いながら、僕たちは人へのサービスを磨いていく。

そのすべてを人に教えることがとにかく難しくて、この仕事に残っている人は確実に減っている気がします。

横のつながりを持ち大切にして、協力的関係を築きながら俯瞰的、長期的に人と仕事というものに対して理解を深めていく必要があると思います。

売り手市場なので、仕事はいくらでもあります。

ですが、それと同時に仕事というものに対して軽く考えている人が増えているということも感じずにはいられません。

他があるという保険が人を堕落させ、仕事とそこにいる人たちに対する真摯に向き合うという社会人として大切な姿を作りづらくしているような気がしてなりません。

適当な仕事をし、責任感を感じない大人が増えているという事実を受け止めなければならない。

自分が世の中に存在する理由と価値を今一度考えてみてはいかがでしょうか。

Today’s main topic is about considering the reasons and values behind our existence.

At the end of May, I will attend the general meeting of the Japan LP Gas Plant Association (JLPA). A social gathering will be held for the first time in five years. I look forward to meeting everyone.

There was a time when I pondered the nature of our work in high-pressure gas inspection. I became overly negative, thinking:

"Our work is merely a cost to our customers."

There were times when this realization shocked me. If there were no mandatory inspections, customers wouldn't need to spend money on maintaining their equipment. Without safety inspections, there would be no need for annual checks. This led me to conclude that our work was just a cost to our customers.

However, this wasn’t the case. No customer has ever said that to me. On the contrary, I’ve received words of gratitude.

Why is that? I wondered. The fact is, there are statutory inspections, and our job is to help pass these safety checks. Our work aids in the maintenance and management of their equipment.

We are able to receive compensation because we are useful to our customers. I realized that our work is also tied to Japan’s manufacturing industry.

By standing next to our customers and using our skills and knowledge, we strive to maintain their equipment. We identify abnormal parts compared to the previous year and recommend preventive maintenance.

Rather than focusing solely on our profit, we must consider the benefits to our customers. Aligning what is needed with the value we can provide, we must continually question the reason and value of our existence.

We must strive to learn new technologies and incorporate them to provide stable services at lower costs. It is also essential to pass on the knowledge and skills nurtured by our predecessors to future generations.

While dealing with machines and equipment, we refine our services for people. It’s incredibly difficult to teach all this to others, and it feels like the number of people staying in this line of work is dwindling.

We need to cherish and maintain our horizontal connections, build cooperative relationships, and deepen our understanding of people and work from a long-term, holistic perspective.

It's a seller’s market, so there are plenty of jobs. However, it’s hard not to notice an increase in people who take work lightly. Having alternatives as a safety net seems to lead people to slack off, making it challenging to foster a sincere approach to work and colleagues.

We must face the reality that there are more adults doing half-hearted work without a sense of responsibility.

Why not take a moment to reconsider the reason and value of your existence in the world?

それはただの自己中じゃないかな？ Isn't That Just Self-Centered?

「土日、休みます。」

私たちの業務は工場の高圧ガス設備の検査サービスやメンテナンスサービス業なので、土日休みではありません。

とはいうものの、子供の行事など休みたい時があり、みんなで協力しあってそういう日を融通しあって成り立たせている部分もあります。

今の時代、なかなか強制的にすることが難しいのか、協力会社さんにて２週連続で土日を休まれる方がいて、頭の中が「？？？」となったので少し書いてまとめてみたいと思います。

入って半年も経たない新人くんであり、今は繁忙期にさしかかったところです。

会社の制度は詳しくは知りませんけれど、土日に現場での仕事が入っていても休みを入れさえすれば好きに休めますよ、と話をしていたようでした。

たしかにそうなのでしょう。

規則に従い、会社の制度的にみればそうなのかもしれない。

自分は制度をうまく利用している、と思っているのかもしれないが、

僕にはただの「自己中で残念なやつ」に見えてしまいました。

世の中が自分ひとりで回っているとでもいうのでしょうか？

土日に休みたいと思っている人がいないとでも思っているのでしょうか？

何活か知らないけれど、それがしたいのであればこの業界に就業することが間違っているような気がしてなりません。

あまりにも人を舐めているし、仕事を舐めているとしか思えないのです。

かくいう私も土日に子供の行事があって休みたい時がありました。

ですが、その時だけどうしても休みたいと。他はいいと。

そういう気持ちでした。

それが正しいかどうかはわかりません。

その感覚がおかしいのかもしれないけれど、ハックしてやったかのように制度を逆手にとって自分の気の向くままに行動をすることがいいか？ということです。

この業界にいるにも関わらず、あまりにも短絡的すぎる気がするのです。

こういう人間には重要な仕事を任せることは出来ないでしょう。

「今」とは過去の積み重ねであって、こういうことが未来に向かって悪い意味で積み重なっていく。

協力しあえる仲間であるか信用できるやつかどうかという人間にとってとても大切なものを軽々しく見ているのです。

非常にドライに付き合うしかないタイプの人間ですね。

これは仕方ないです。

僕も人間なので割り切ってつきあうこともあります。よっぽどないですけど。

でないと、イライラして仕方がありません。

人を大切に思えない人を大切にできるほど僕は人間ができていないのです。

会社に尽くせということではなく、共に働く仲間の存在と自らの置かれている立場というものを見れない人間に心を開く人間がいるのでしょうか？

甚だしい。

ただのヤバいやつでしかないですよね。

今時、こういうのが普通なのでしょうか？？

自分の理解を超えた存在に憤りを感じとともに恐怖にも感じます。

日本の雇用環境は相当やばいところにあると思いますね。

Today’s main topic is about how value perception varies among people, and why it's unnecessary to be fixated on one thing.

"Taking the weekend off."

Our job involves inspecting and maintaining high-pressure gas equipment in factories, so we don’t have weekends off. However, there are times when we need a break for personal reasons like children's events, and we manage to cover for each other during such times.

In today’s world, it’s hard to enforce strict rules, and I encountered a situation where someone from a partner company took two consecutive weekends off, which left me puzzled. So, I wanted to write about it and organize my thoughts.

This was a newbie who had been with the company for less than six months, and we were entering a busy season. I don’t know the exact company policies, but it seemed they were told they could take time off on weekends even if there was work scheduled.

That might be true. According to company regulations, they might be following the rules. They might think they’re cleverly utilizing the system, but to me, they just seem like a self-centered and disappointing person.

Do they think the world revolves around them? Do they think no one else wants weekends off?

Whatever their reasons, if they want to take weekends off, they might be in the wrong industry. It feels like they’re disrespecting both the people and the job.

I’ve had times when I wanted to take weekends off for my kids' events too. But my mindset was to take off only when absolutely necessary and to cover for others at all other times.

I’m not saying my approach is the right one. But is it right to manipulate the system and act on a whim? It feels incredibly short-sighted for someone in this industry.

You can’t trust important work to such a person. "Now" is built on the past, and such attitudes will negatively affect the future. They overlook the crucial aspects of being a reliable and cooperative team member.

Such people can only be dealt with very coldly. There’s no other way. Although it’s rare, sometimes I have to interact with people in a detached manner.

Otherwise, it’s frustrating. I’m not saintly enough to care for those who don’t value others.

I’m not saying one must devote themselves entirely to the company, but can anyone truly open their heart to someone who can’t see the value of their colleagues or their own position? It’s outrageous.

Such individuals are just troublesome. Is this normal nowadays?

I feel both anger and fear towards those who are beyond my understanding. Japan's employment environment is in a dangerous place.
