Hello. I’m President Yasui, running a solo business primarily focused on high-pressure gas equipment inspections.
I just realized that ever since my business trip to Hyogo in April, I’ve been quite busy except for the occasional weekend break. Next week, I’ll be heading to Tokyo for the JLPA general meeting and a meeting with a company representative. I’m still far from hitting my limit as a one-man operation, so I’ll keep pushing forward to be of help to everyone.
In my work, I meet many different people. Among them, I sometimes come across individuals who give off an air of "I'm doing this work for you"—as if they’re doing a favor.
Humans are like bundles of sensors, so that attitude definitely comes through to the person in front of you. Maybe they don’t realize it, or maybe they’re not even thinking about it.
In our line of work, we aren’t doing anything particularly special that only we can do. I’m just an ordinary person like everyone else, and there’s nothing uniquely exceptional that only I can offer.
So, someone as ordinary as that shouldn’t be acting like they’re doing people a favor just by doing their job. Don’t you agree?
I wouldn’t go as far as to say “the customer is God,” but still, a customer is a customer.
We’re in the service industry, so all we need to do is provide the best service possible to our clients and their sites. Saying “I’m doing the job for you” is just another way of saying “I’m serving you as a favor,” and that kind of attitude has no place in proper service.
If you accept that your job could be done by someone else—because there are countless substitutes in the world—you won’t end up acting arrogant or condescending.
Trust builds over time, but dissatisfaction also accumulates over time.
Even though it's difficult to replace contractors due to labor shortages, alternatives still exist. If dissatisfaction continues to grow, it increases the likelihood of being replaced.
Would you rather be the one people say “I don’t want to give work to that guy,” or the one they say “I definitely want to work with him”?
The answer should be obvious.
See you again!
