貧乏（びんぼう、英語:poor）とは、財産や収入が少なく生活が苦しいこと。貧しいさま。貧困より生活には困窮していない。俗に金欠と言われる場合があるが、状況が悪化すると赤貧とも呼ばれることもある。 Wikipediaより抜粋
貧乏のさらに下は貧困ということみたいです。
次に清貧ということが書かれていました。
通常、貧乏という言葉にはネガティブなイメージが付きまとうが、節制を常とし『無駄な経費を使わない』という点においてはむしろ高潔なイメージが強い。そうした無駄な贅沢を好まない理念を、特に清貧と呼ぶことが多い。
お金に対してシビアな考えを持っている層ということですね。
簡単にいうと、ケチでしょう。
無駄なものを買わない、贅沢をしない、無駄なお金を使わないということと無駄なことにおj金を使う余裕がないことは似ているようで違いますよね。
清貧と呼ぶ層とケチ、そして貧乏という層はそれぞれが別の次元にいると考えてよさそうです。
さて、大きな家に住んでいる子、その家族は貧乏か？
ということですが、それは大きな借金をしているからということが言いたいのでしょう。
大きな借金、マイナスがあるから貧乏人なのだと。生活が困窮しているに違いないということでしょう。
ですが、大きな借金をするにはそれなりの信用が必要になってきます。
銀行はお金を返せる見込みがあるからお金を貸してくれます。
一般的には年収の５倍までの借金が望ましいようですが、近頃はそれ以上でも貸してくれるようです。（返せる金額ベースで考えるから、とのことですがその考えは割と危険だと思いますけども。。。）
借金があるから貧乏だ、というのはどうにもお金のことをわかっていないような気がします。
借金は未来のお金の前借りだということです。
未来に手にするお金を前に持ってきているからお金を返していく必要があります。
ですが、お金を借りれば、未来に手にするものをいち早く手にすることができます。
借金はレバレッジです。
自己資金のリターンを増加することができます。
どうせ住むなら早い方がいい、ということで買ってしまったとしてもそれは未来に手にする利益を今から享受するということなのです。
その代償として、借りたお金を返すという義務が発生するのです。
それだけのことなのです。
贅沢をして、豪勢な家を建てたわけではなく、住宅ローンも無理をした返済計画でなく、標準的な家を建てたのであれば大きな家を建てたところで貧乏になることはないと思います。
まして、地方ですので土地代は知れていますからね。
借金を怖い、という考えはこうした考えから出てきてしまいます。
借金をする人は貧乏なのだと。
でも、決してそうではありません。
お金を借りて成長すると言われているくらいですので、お金を借りれないようでは大きな成功はないと思います。
かく言う私は大きく借りていないので大きな成長は今のところ見込め無さそうですねw
貧乏とは、人の何をみて貧乏と捉えるべきか。
経済的な豊かさと心の豊かさのどちらも欠如し、貧乏であると言えなくもありません。
貧しさの中に幸せが見出せていればそれでいいでしょうし、お金がなくても生活ができるということは一つのライフスタイルとして素晴らしいことだと思います。
欲に塗れてお金で買えるもので着飾る必要がある人よりも、私はそちらの方で全然構いませんし、もしそこに自分で使える時間があるのであればとても幸せなことだと感じています。
子供には、それがどういうことなのか、お金とはどういうものなのかを機会があるたびに答えているつもりです。
どう理解しているかはわかりませんが、お金は信用の権化であるということを理解しておけばいいと考えています。

The other day, my younger daughter asked me a question.
Daughter: "Are we poor?"
Me: "I don't think so."
When I asked her why she asked that, she said that a friend at school mentioned that children living in big houses are poor.
What does it mean to be poor? I wanted to know, so I looked up the term.
According to Wikipedia, poverty (poor) means having little property or income, making life difficult. It is a state of being poor, but not as severe as destitution. It can sometimes be colloquially referred to as being broke, and if the situation worsens, it may be called destitution.
So, it seems that destitution is even lower than poverty.
Next, I came across the term "noble poverty."
Typically, the word "poverty" carries a negative image, but there is a more positive perspective: living frugally and not spending unnecessary expenses is seen as virtuous. This idea is often called "noble poverty."
This is a mindset of being frugal with money.
In simpler terms, it means being stingy. Not buying unnecessary things, not indulging in luxuries, and not spending money wastefully are principles that seem similar but are fundamentally different from having no choice but to avoid such expenses due to lack of funds.
It seems fair to say that the concepts of noble poverty, stinginess, and poverty exist in separate dimensions.
Now, is a family living in a big house poor?
The implication here is that they have significant debts.
The argument is that having large debts makes someone poor, suggesting they must be struggling financially.
However, obtaining a large loan requires a certain level of creditworthiness.
Banks lend money with the expectation that it will be repaid. Generally, borrowing up to five times one's annual income is considered reasonable, but these days, banks might lend even more based on the ability to repay (although this mindset can be risky).
Saying that debt makes you poor shows a lack of understanding about money.
Debt is essentially borrowing from future income.
By borrowing money, you get access to future benefits earlier, and in return, you have to repay the loan.
But borrowing allows you to enjoy benefits that you would otherwise have to wait for.
Debt is leverage.
It can increase the return on your own capital. If you decide to buy a house to live in sooner rather than later, you're simply enjoying future benefits now.
The trade-off is the obligation to repay the borrowed money.
That's all it is.
If you build a big house not out of luxury but with a reasonable mortgage plan for a standard home, you won't become poor.
Moreover, in rural areas, land costs are not significant.
The fear of debt stems from such misunderstandings.
Thinking that people who take on debt are poor is incorrect.
It's often said that borrowing money is a way to grow, and if you can't borrow money, achieving great success is unlikely.
As for myself, I haven't taken on significant debt, so substantial growth isn't expected anytime soon. 😅
Poverty is subjective. Whether someone is poor depends on how you perceive it.
One could say that lacking both economic and spiritual wealth constitutes poverty.
Finding happiness in modest circumstances is perfectly fine, and living without much money can be a wonderful lifestyle.
I much prefer this over being someone who feels the need to dress up with material possessions. If it means having time for myself, I consider it a great blessing.
Whenever the opportunity arises, I try to explain to my children what money means and its significance.
I can't be sure how well they understand, but I hope they grasp that money represents a form of trust.
