Hello! I’m Yasui, a solo business owner running a company that mainly inspects high-pressure gas equipment.
Lately, my head is full of worries.
But maybe when I look back on these days a year from now, all this struggle will feel like nothing.
That’s exactly why I want to keep a record of things just as they are now.
Some people might think, “Just write this in a diary…”
Well, I hope you’ll stick around a little longer. lol
Yesterday’s blog also touched on this, but it feels like I need to drastically change my environment and my way of thinking.
If what I’m in right now is my comfort zone, then even if it’s not the best or the most pleasant environment, it’s still a place where I don’t feel too uncomfortable.
So trying to lift myself up from there and start walking forward takes a lot of effort.
Whenever I’m in this kind of situation, I always feel the urge to escape, to procrastinate, to avoid everything.
What if a future completely different from the one I imagined suddenly came at me?
What if someone told me, “Starting two months from now, please become the Prime Minister”?
I’d want to refuse.
And if staying in the country meant I’d be forced into it, I’d probably feel like escaping abroad too.
There’s a reason for that:
Humans generally don’t want drastic changes from their current environment.
When we’re placed in a situation that constantly demands change, we get stressed and switch into avoidance mode to protect ourselves.
To move forward, we need to push through that defense instinct.
No wonder our bodies naturally want to run away, right?
Still, if we truly want to change, we have to throw ourselves into change intentionally.
It can be voluntary or forced—you can trick yourself into moving, put yourself in a situation where you can’t escape, or make a commitment to someone else.
Either way, to escape the safe zone, you have to push yourself to the point of no return.
And even if you win the battle against yourself, plenty of other challenges will still remain.
I don’t need honor or prestige—what matters is simply doing what needs to be done.
I want to keep searching for ways that bring happiness to the people connected to me.
Let’s keep pushing forward.
Thank you for reading to the end!
See you again!
