Hello there. I’m Yasui, the sole president running a company that mainly performs inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
Today, I had a meeting with my tax accountant to seek advice. Receiving guidance from a professional perspective is truly invaluable. Why, you may ask? Because they offer viewpoints that differ from my own — perspectives I simply cannot come up with by myself.
Professionals like tax accountants interact with numerous companies, so they have a wealth of case studies and real-world examples. Not to mention, they can provide insights from the standpoint of tax laws and other legal frameworks. Also, since I pay a monthly advisory fee, I’d be wasting it if I didn’t utilize their expertise! (lol)
When you rely solely on your own thoughts and opinions, it’s easy to miss certain important points. There are times when making decisions objectively — after receiving external input — is far more effective. While deciding everything by yourself may feel efficient, today reminded me that having someone point out things I hadn’t even noticed is extremely valuable.
However, if you approach advice without an open mind, you won’t be able to accept or utilize it properly. It’s best to listen naturally, take it as one opinion, and then move forward in a way that makes sense to you. Blindly accepting everything leads to dependency.
If you rely entirely on others’ advice to act, you eventually become someone who can’t do anything without guidance — a thoughtless, decision-paralyzed person. Ultimately, you are the one who must decide. When you make decisions yourself, you retain ownership. You can accept outcomes — good or bad — as your own responsibility.
Conversely, if you simply follow what someone else tells you and things go wrong, you may end up blaming them. That’s something best avoided, as resentment can linger and relationships can sour. Making your own decisions and moving forward — that’s a fundamental rule.
Having someone available to advise you is something to be genuinely grateful for. I hope that when others ask me for advice, I can respond in a helpful manner as well.
Thank you very much for reading!
