Hello, this is President Yasui, running a company focused on inspecting high-pressure gas equipment as a solo entrepreneur.
Today, I performed basic maintenance for Kagura Vapar Tech in Ena City. It's been nearly six years since I started working as an agency for Kagura Vapar Tech. It's a fascinating and enjoyable job, so I aim to keep improving and providing even better maintenance services.
Currently, I’m reading two books: Eiichi Shibusawa’s The Analects and the Abacus and Naoki Hyakuta’s The Chronicles of Japan.
Regarding The Chronicles of Japan, there are diverse opinions and evaluations from experts and different sources, but the book provides insight into Japan’s journey from ancient times to the present. If this is what one calls "culture," I believe it’s worth studying.
You can learn about turning points in history. Some aspects differ between what we learned in social studies classes and what is now understood to be factual. Additionally, the perception changes when you actively seek information yourself rather than simply listening in class.
Japan has never been colonized or enslaved by another country. Moreover, it’s a nation that has never experienced genocide against its people.
As a result, Japan has developed a continuous and vibrant culture, boasting one of the richest histories in the world.
Historically, while the Korean Peninsula was under the control of ruling dynasties in China, Japan never became subservient to such powers.
With an emperor as its monarch and head of state, Japan engaged with these powers on equal footing. By adopting positive elements of ancient Chinese culture and wisdom, Japan made remarkable progress.
Japanese people have always been diligent learners. Literacy rates have been high, and when foreign nations encountered Japan in the modern era, they found it to be a remarkably cultured and unique country.
During the Meiji period, Japan sought to compete with Western powers by adopting their advanced civilizations. However, Shibusawa Eiichi lamented that this progress sometimes gave rise to businesspeople lacking moral principles.
That said, it’s nothing short of incredible that this historically rich nation has survived to this day. While dynasties have risen and fallen repeatedly in mainland China, Japan has remained Japan throughout.
It’s a miracle.
Our ancestors worked tirelessly for this nation and society, ensuring that we exist today.
Even through devastating wars, they persevered and passed life on to our parents, for which we owe them endless gratitude.
I have no intention of forcing patriotism on anyone, but personally, I am proud to have been born in Japan, a country with such profound history.
I also feel grateful to The Chronicles of Japan for teaching me this. It’s a book that offers a valuable opportunity to learn more about Japan and its history.
I encourage everyone to pick it up and read it at least once.
See you next time!
