Hello! I’m Yasui, the president of a company specializing in high-pressure gas equipment inspections.
Are you watching TV Asahi’s Thursday drama Private Banker?
With Toshiaki Karasawa as the lead, I had no doubt it would be interesting—and as expected, it turned out to be a hit for me!
Each episode introduces famous investment proverbs, many of which you might already know:
- "There’s a hidden path where others do not go, leading to a mountain of flowers."
- "What seems like 'already' is actually 'not yet,' and what seems like 'not yet' is already 'now'."
- "No profit comes without taking risks."
The protagonist, Koichi Anno, has a mission to protect his clients’ assets. But the drama makes it clear that "protecting assets" covers a broad range of responsibilities.
One of the most engaging aspects is how Kumiko Iida, the dango shop owner played by Honami Suzuki, makes typical amateur investment mistakes in stock and cryptocurrency trading. It’s always interesting to see how these pitfalls unfold.
Financial dramas like Hanzawa Naoki are often captivating. It makes me wonder—do people just love stories about money?
In the show, the wealthy Amamiya family is locked in an inheritance dispute. It’s never pleasant to watch family members fight over money. But it reminds us that money has the power to change people so easily.
Even in a fictional drama, we see that wealthy individuals can become obsessed with money—not just with making more but with hoarding and taking more than others. This greedy mindset is what leads to conflict.
Personally, I don’t believe making money is a bad thing.
The idea that talking about money is taboo or that earning money is greedy is simply wrong.
There’s a famous saying:
"Morality without economy is mere dreaming. Economy without morality is a crime."
In other words, having strong moral values is great, but without a working economy, they are just empty words. And an economy without morals leads to unethical practices.
In today’s world, true self-sufficiency is incredibly difficult. Since we no longer operate on a barter system, money is deeply intertwined with our lives. However, letting money completely control your life is just as problematic.
On a personal level, I believe that earning a sufficient amount of money actually frees us from financial stress.
When you no longer need to constantly think about money, you can start seeing the world with clearer, purer eyes.
Taking risks is necessary to gain profits, but minimizing risks through careful planning and studying is equally important.
That’s why we need knowledge, patience, and the ability to analyze information from books and other resources.
Today's Quote
"No profit comes without taking risks. If you never take a chance, you will neither lose nor win."
See you next time!
