Hello. I'm President Yasui, a solo entrepreneur running a company that mainly conducts inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
I'm currently on a business trip in the Kanto region.
I'm working with a senior in his mid-70s, a veteran who has always embraced cutting-edge tools. He told me how he recently used Copilot to create presentation materials for a neighborhood association using AI and PowerPoint.
No matter how old you get, curiosity never fades.
People like him are truly interesting individuals!
Today, I was on-site with him and another colleague close to my age — the three of us worked together.
During our break, we had a conversation that sparked a thought:
“This job won’t disappear.”
That idea stayed with me, so I decided to write it down.
Conversations like this must have happened all over the world throughout history.
Whether those jobs actually disappeared or not — we only know in hindsight, with the passage of time.
Some jobs are born anew, while others vanish.
Even if a job and its customers exist, it might disappear if no one steps up to do it.
With the rise of robots and AI, tasks can be automated, and the need for human labor diminishes.
What used to require teams of people can now be done with fewer hands — or none at all.
End-users might start using AI themselves, handling tasks that used to be outsourced to professionals like us.
Jobs that once relied on specialized knowledge may become standardized due to AI — creating a world where anyone can do them.
No job is immune to the possibility of extinction.
It may not vanish tomorrow, but take a look around — aren’t there already fewer inquiries and requests than before?
It's rare for the same job to last forever.
We must constantly challenge ourselves and adapt.
I believe we must never forget the sense of urgency — that this job could disappear one day.
Think about this: out of many available options, customers chose you. That means something.
To preserve our work into the future, we must also ensure it remains profitable.
Thank you for reading to the end.
See you next time!
