Hello. I’m President Yasui, a solo business owner running a company that mainly conducts inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
I've just returned from a week-long business trip to the Kanto region.
Although it was only after work hours, spending a week alone in the evenings made me deeply realize how happy my everyday life with my family truly is.
Especially when it comes to meals.
During the trip, I often found myself eating in my hotel room rather than going out.
Even when I bought food from the supermarket, I couldn’t cook in the room, so my meals ended up consisting mostly of prepared foods like ready-made rice and curry, bagged salads, and natto—things you can eat as-is or after microwaving.
If it were just a two-night trip, that would be fine.
But with a longer trip like this one, meals start to feel quite bleak.
I tried to get enough calories and protein for recovery, but still, it was far from the well-balanced meals my wife usually prepares at home—especially ones that take our children’s nutrition into account (lol).
Meals at home truly are a blessing.
And while I didn’t dwell on it too much while eating, I couldn’t help but feel that eating unbalanced or lonely meals gradually chips away at the spirit.
I also felt a big difference between eating alone in a room and sharing a meal around a table with family.
There’s a special kind of joy in eating together, chatting and laughing, rather than eating in silence.
Though our eldest son is often away lately, there are still days when the kids and I can have dinner together.
Eventually, they’ll grow up and start living their own lives.
It might be just five years—or depending on the high school our eldest chooses, even less than two.
Lately, I’ve been feeling how limited our time together as a family really is.
Cherish this very moment.
Let’s never forget to feel gratitude for our loved ones as we go about our lives.
Thank you for reading all the way to the end!
See you again soon!
