Hello. I’m Yasui, the president of a one-person company that primarily conducts inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
I successfully received my certificate of completion. I can now keep my promise. The acceptance framework is in place. I’m relieved.
When you’re caught inside a large vortex, you lose sight of where you stand.
When you’re in the middle of anxiety, what people around you say starts to sound correct.
But that’s not always true.
They say that business owners are lonely, and I really think that’s true.
The problems right in front of us may resemble general issues in society, but they are never exactly the same. In the end, deciding and choosing must be done by the business owner alone.
As a manager like me—one who is not merely an owner—I must not switch to “autopilot” by leaving things to others.
Autopilot may feel easy while you’re riding along, but someone else’s destination does not necessarily match the destination you envision.
Having run a company for over ten years, I’ve been away for a long time from the worlds that others create.
Sometimes I even wonder if my own sense has become distorted. The outside world has probably changed that much.
But at the same time, I believe I understand what does not change.
My own sense.
I think it’s something I can trust without hesitation.
The feelings of something being off or wrong—
I believe my judgment about those moments is not mistaken.
What our company stands for is this:
No matter what anyone says, that is what it is.
Still, I’ve strongly felt that people around you will say selfish things.
Then fine—why don’t they try doing it themselves under the short-sighted conditions they propose?
Can they stake their lives and throw all their own capital on the line?
Do they have the resolve to bear all responsibility?
Unlike a game, once a small company starts to collapse, there is no reset button, no “wait a moment.”
But no one really understands that.
I know that already.
After all, it belongs to someone else.
Basically, I look at ordinary people around me thinking that most only care about themselves.
Even if they sound like they’re saying good things, you can tell everything by watching their actions.
And within their choice of words, their true thoughts and values inevitably peek through.
Among that, I believe I’ve found people I can trust.
There are truly very few people with a solid core to their thinking, but perhaps because I think this way, it’s also true that the people I genuinely get along with tend to have that core.
Trust your conscience.
Never bend your beliefs.
The one who makes the choices is always you.
There is no one else who will take responsibility for your life.
