Hello, I’m Yasui, the president of a one-person company mainly engaged in inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
I’m attending the Chemical Equipment–Related Class I Pressure Vessel Operation Supervisor Training Course, a three-day program.
No matter what, I need to pass the completion exam and take the certificate home with me.
Well, it’s unlikely I’ll actually fail badly, but still…
This is a mandatory skills training required for tasks such as internal (open) inspections of Class I pressure vessels.
If a vessel falls under the High Pressure Gas Safety Act, it is possible to become a Special Class I Pressure Vessel Operation Supervisor by filing the appropriate notification based on qualifications such as the High Pressure Gas Manufacturing Safety Manager license.
That’s how I’ve been operating up until now.
However, reactors such as foaming equipment and steam accumulators fall outside the scope of high-pressure gas regulations.
Because of that, even if I’m asked to conduct an internal inspection, I cannot act as the operation supervisor for those vessels.
That is why I decided to attend this training course.
There are many Class I pressure vessels in use throughout society, and when it comes to internal inspections in particular, many users are struggling as current operators are aging or retiring.
Chemical companies have a large number of reactors installed.
Since these require periodic internal inspections due to internal cleaning and maintenance, I happened to receive inquiries at just the right time.
If I can be of service to society, I thought I’d give it my best effort.
Of course, just because I complete the training doesn’t mean I can immediately handle the practical work on my own.
That part needs to be discussed and coordinated carefully with the operating companies.
We’re also looking for workers who are willing to work together with us!
This year, once again, there’s a lot of new work ahead.
To be honest, I’m full of anxiety—but I intend to work as hard as I can.
Thank you very much for reading to the end!
See you again!
