Hello, this is Yasui, president of a company specializing in inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
Here are my three recommended books!
Taichi Kogure — An Ultra-Introductory Guide to Capital
Karl Marx’s Capital originally consisted of three volumes. Marx himself published only Volume 1, while Volumes 2 and 3 were later published by Engels after Marx’s death.
Kogure does an excellent job of explaining this notoriously difficult work in a very accessible way. Once you read it, many things in society suddenly start to make sense.Stephen R. Covey — The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
A must-read for anyone who wants to live a better and more meaningful life.Tadashi Yanai — See Reality As It Is
A fascinating look at what it truly means to “see reality” from the perspective of the founder of UNIQLO. Yanai is heavily influenced by Peter Drucker, and I think his way of thinking is absolutely worth studying.
Seriously, I highly recommend beginner-friendly books about Marx’s Capital.
They are incredibly interesting. You constantly find yourself thinking,
“So THAT’S how it works!”
And if you run a company, it may actually help you understand business and society better.
Of course, you can still run a company without reading it though. (laughs)
Today’s theme is: Make It Personal.
Human beings naturally want to avoid effort.
That’s why we tend to leave things to other people.
We stop thinking deeply.
We stop using our brains.
The human brain consumes an enormous amount of energy, so from an instinctive standpoint, conserving energy by avoiding thought is actually natural behavior.
But thinking hard is stressful.
It exhausts us mentally.
As a result, people start depending on others or leaving decisions in someone else’s hands.
It’s easier to let someone else hold the steering wheel.
Easier to rely on autopilot.
And unless our lives are directly at risk, we tend to let go of control very quickly.
But we need to resist that instinct.
Things we want to treat as someone else’s problem must become our own responsibility.
Once we do that, anxiety often begins to fade.
When you hold the wheel yourself, take initiative, and act proactively, the future slowly starts to open up before you.
If you had to sail into unknown waters, wouldn’t you rather steer your own ship with your own compass instead of simply boarding someone else’s vessel?
In this vast ocean-like world where we never know what may happen next, the only things we can truly trust under any circumstance are our own hands, our own legs, and our own ability to think.
And I believe trusted companions are also worth believing in.
Everyone is busy these days.
Even when you ask for work or cooperation, people often turn you down.
Still, we have no choice but to keep aiming for collaboration and mutual support.
Your business is your responsibility.
Let’s keep doing our best.
Thank you very much for reading all the way to the end!
See you again!
