Hello, this is Yasui , and I run a company primarily engaged in inspections of high-pressure gas equipment.
Here are my three recommended books!
- Invent & Wander by Jeff Bezos — A great book for learning how to think long-term.
- The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey — Essential principles for living a better life.
- Face Reality by Tadashi Yanai — A book where UNIQLO’s Yanai explains what it means to truly “see reality.” His perspective, heavily influenced by Drucker, is absolutely worth reading.
Running away is easy.
“I can’t handle this anymore!”
“I give up!”
There are moments when escaping is the only thing you can think about.
Maybe that’s simply human survival instinct at work.
You desperately search for an escape route, but eventually realize there is nowhere to run.
And only then do you finally steel yourself and face the reality in front of you.
Even when the situation is so harsh that you want to look away, you are forced to confront it.
“How can I make this work?”
“Who should I ask for help?”
That’s when you finally begin searching for solutions.
It’s strange.
Just moments before, you were desperately searching for a way out.
But once you abandon the idea of escape and completely turn around, your mind starts searching for a way to survive instead.
The moment we become dependent, life suddenly becomes fragile.
Just like an infant cannot survive without depending on its mother, people who rely too heavily on something become delicate and vulnerable.
“I can’t do this without that.”
“I need this in order to function.”
There are countless moments where we think like that.
Within limited resources, we must decide what to do and what not to do.
Perhaps in the coming era, deciding what not to do will become even more important.
Work truly is something incredibly deep.
Thank you very much for reading all the way to the end!
See you again!
