Hello, I’m Yasui, president of a company that mainly conducts inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
Let me start with three recommended books:
Jeff Bezos – Invent & Wander
A great book for developing a long-term perspective.Stephen R. Covey – The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
A must-read for building a better life and mindset.Tadashi Yanai – Face Reality
In this book, the founder of UNIQLO explains what it truly means to “face reality.” It helps develop a broader, more objective perspective. His thinking, influenced by Peter Drucker, is well worth learning from.
There are times when things go well, and times when they don’t.
When things are going well, you push forward.
When things are going badly, you pull back.
But once people taste success, they often forget what losing feels like.
That’s when they lose sight of when to step back.
To be completely honest, I think knowing when to step back is one of the most important things.
Right now, the situation is extremely difficult, and I’ve been reminded of my own limits.
At the end of the day, the power of one person is limited.
No matter how capable someone may be, eventually they run into limits—time, physical strength, mental energy, and many other things.
If you avoid losing too badly, you can always rebuild later.
That’s why knowing when to step back matters.
If you let go early enough, the damage can remain small.
The human mind during anxious times is fascinating.
It immediately shifts into survival mode.
You instinctively try to protect yourself.
Maybe that’s just human nature.
But once something has already started running, it’s hard to stop.
Things that haven’t started yet can still be stopped.
Right now, schedules are full, manpower is limited, and realistically, we can’t keep expanding forever.
A change in business direction feels inevitable.
The question now is whether we can survive and keep swimming through rough seas.
Thank you very much for reading to the end!
See you next time!
