Hello, this is President Yasui. I run a one-person company that primarily conducts inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
Starting today, I’m on a business trip to Hyogo Prefecture.
I stay at the same inn every year, but… it doesn’t really feel restful (laughs).
The poor internet connection adds to my frustration.
While I like it because it’s close to the work site, the facilities are really starting to show their limits...
As the world changes rapidly, our individual progress can often feel painfully slow.
Five years from now, looking back at yourself today and realizing that nothing much has changed—this is something that happens quite often.
I don’t want to live a life that’s just a rehash of yesterday.
I want to be at least a little bit different than before.
That mindset, I believe, is what helps us move forward.
When we let our guard down, our days tend to blur into the same routine.
We end up spending our time on things that don’t really matter, letting the days slip by.
We want to challenge ourselves.
We want to try a new business or start something exciting.
Even so, it’s incredibly difficult for most people to actually start.
If you can act on impulse and follow through, you’re truly exceptional.
But most people try to justify their inaction by coming up with various reasons.
They convince themselves that their hesitation is somehow the “right” choice.
The human mind works in such mysterious ways.
The world won’t wait for you to start.
If you had started sooner, your chances of success might have been much higher.
By hesitating, you might have missed your shot.
We all know what we should be doing.
Yet we still don’t do it.
We end up spending our time on urgent but unimportant things, or even meaningless distractions—
and by the end of the day, nothing significant has been accomplished.
Whether it’s dieting, sports, hobbies, or a side business,
the key is to set aside a specific time during the day or week to work on it.
For studying or reading, early mornings are best.
For the gym, maybe the evening.
For hobbies, how about after a bath?
If you clearly decide, “This is when I’ll do it,” it’s much easier to carve out time.
Personally, I often find myself escaping from the things I really need to do.
I’ll suddenly realize I’m doing something completely unrelated.
If you can learn to recognize that sign in yourself,
you’ll be able to catch yourself thinking,
“Ah, I’m running away again.”
It’s like sitting in the pilot’s seat of your own life—steering yourself toward what truly matters.
Little by little, that will bring about change.
Even a small sense of growth each day makes me feel happy and fulfilled.
That sense of progress is what makes life feel worthwhile.
Life can be tough, but it can also be fun.
So if we’re going to live it, let’s choose to find the joy in it.

“If you want to seize the opportunity, start now!”
