Hello there. I’m Yasui, a solo entrepreneur running a company that mainly inspects high-pressure gas equipment.
Until recently, I had been playing Dragon Quest III on my PS5, but for the past two months, I haven’t touched it at all.
I stopped right after getting the ship. And once that happens… it’s really hard to get back into it.
You could say it’s because I don’t have much free time these days—but honestly, even the mental space to write this blog has been scarce. Playing a game, especially an RPG, feels nearly impossible right now.
In RPGs, the ones moving around on the screen are the characters—but it’s the player who actually makes the decisions.
Physical attack? Magic? Heal?
Where to go next? When to rest at the inn? What’s the next destination?
As a kid, those choices thrilled me.
Now, as an adult, they just make me tired from too many decisions. 😂
Still, I want to defeat Baramos, reach the underworld, and take down Zoma to finish the game.
So I really need to start that journey again.
But you know how it goes—when you stop playing for a while, getting back into it feels like trying to go back to a gym you’ve been skipping for months.
The hurdle just gets higher.
When you keep doing something regularly, it becomes familiar, even comfortable.
It turns into a habit, and your body stops resisting.
I realized something—both RPGs and life are really just journeys.
Sometimes, we try something once, succeed a little, then stop… and years later, it becomes just a distant memory.
Starting again from that point takes even more effort than the first try.
That’s just human nature.
To keep going—what an incredible thing that really is.
I feel it deeply these days.
Thank you for reading all the way through!
See you next time!
