Hello, I’m Yasui, president of a company that mainly conducts inspections of high-pressure gas facilities.
Since I’m no longer a “solo president,” I changed the opening line.
I’ve suddenly (or so it feels) moved from the relatively free position of being a one-man president to the head of an organization. While I still feel a bit unsure at times, I want to keep waving the flag and doing my best as we move toward the “ideal form of our company.”
Today, someone who works in Tokyo said they wanted to meet and talk, so we sat down face-to-face and had a conversation.
We talked for about two hours, and it turned out to be a very meaningful time.
Thank you very much, Mr. M.
Of course, if the goal is simply to have a conversation, a phone call or an online meeting would work just fine.
But actually sitting down face-to-face and talking is really something special.
The atmosphere of the moment, the energy in the room, the other person’s real expressions, and the intensity that builds during the conversation—these are completely different from anything that happens through a screen.
After all, the other person spent both time and money traveling to come meet me.
Because of that, I want to make sure the time we spend together feels “interesting” and makes them think, “I’m glad I came to meet.”
We don’t usually work together on a regular basis, but it truly makes me happy when someone remembers me and reaches out.
There are surprisingly few people with whom you can seriously talk about “work.”
For someone like me living in a regional area, having the opportunity to talk with a businessman who lives in a major city is incredibly valuable.
Businesspeople study a lot.
They interact with many different people, so they tend to know a great deal about many things.
When you talk with someone refined like that, you’re often given the chance to develop entirely new perspectives within yourself—and I highly recommend it.
Listening to other people’s opinions and values, and accepting them, can become the trigger for new ideas to emerge within you.
So go out and have many face-to-face conversations with people.
Reach out to someone you’re curious about, and try meeting them in person.
It would be great if we could all grow together and make this industry a better one.
Thank you very much for reading to the end!
See you next time!
