リスクを負わないことがリスク。
マイクロソフトの創業者の1人であるビル・ゲイツの言葉です。
リスクを負わないと成功はないのかもしれません。
ですが、それとは少しニュアンスが違っていると思います。
仕事を例に挙げてみましょう。
リスクを負わない仕事というのは、どういうものでしょうか？
過去に経験があるものや普段から納めていることはリスクを負わない仕事の部類になると思います。
リスクを負うということは、身の危険を感じるような仕事になると思います。
生きるか死ぬかの危険な仕事、ということではなく、
恐怖心を感じる、ドキドキする、背伸びする、脳に汗をかく、そのような仕事たちだと思います。
研究や実験が必要で今までに成し遂げたことがないようなこともまさにリスクを負うということになるでしょう。
失敗したらどうなる？
そういう恐怖に打ち勝って、リスクを負うことができるという自分に降りてきたチャンスを掴んで自分の力を発揮できるかどうか。
資金的なリスクを負うことも当然あると思います。
そういうことをなくして、企業としての成長や人としての成長はないのではないでしょうか。
お天道様は見ている、と言われるように真摯な姿勢で仕事に取り組んでいると、大きな仕事が舞い込んでくる場面があるのではないでしょうか？
普段のあなたをみて、大きな仕事を振ってくれる人がいる。
リスクを人に与えられる人はとても素晴らしい人ではないでしょうか。
仕事を頼む側にも責任が発生します。
それを承知の上であなたに振ってくれているのです。
要するに人を成長させてくれる人がいなければ自分の成長はないのです。
リスクを負いたくても負えないといえると思います。
リスクを負えるようになりましょう。
それが自分をさらなる成長へと導いてくれるのですから！

"Taking no risks is the biggest risk."
This is a quote from Bill Gates, one of the co-founders of Microsoft.
It might be true that without taking risks, there’s no success. But I believe there’s a bit more nuance to it.
Let's consider this in the context of work. What kind of work carries no risks?
Jobs where you rely on past experiences or tasks you've handled frequently would fall into the category of risk-free work.
On the other hand, taking risks often means engaging in tasks that give you a sense of danger. It’s not necessarily life-threatening, but more about feeling nervous, pushing your limits, and making your brain work harder. It's the kind of work that challenges you.
For example, tasks that require research or experimentation, or that involve accomplishing something that has never been done before — these are prime examples of taking risks.
What if I fail?
Overcoming that fear and seizing opportunities to take risks is what allows you to harness your abilities and rise to the occasion.
Of course, there are times when financial risks are involved. Without taking those kinds of risks, a company can't grow, and neither can individuals.
As the saying goes, "The sun is watching." If you consistently approach your work with sincerity, there will come a time when a big opportunity knocks at your door.
There will be people who see how you work and entrust you with important responsibilities. Those who delegate such risks to others are remarkable people.
There's also responsibility on the part of those who assign tasks. They fully understand the risks and still choose to entrust you with the job.
In short, without people who encourage your growth, there is no personal development.
You could say that if you're not given the chance to take risks, you won’t be able to grow.
Let’s aim to be the kind of person who is capable of taking risks.
Because those risks will lead you to further growth!
